LEXINGTON – Rowan County Cross Country finished in the top 20 teams at state.
The girls’ team improved from last season. They broke into the top 20 teams after breaking a two decade drought as a girls’ program last season. They finished 24th as a team last year and improved to a 15th place finish on Saturday.
The girls’ team once again was led by the Egleston twins.
Autumn Egleston finished in the top 25 finishers. She placed 24th out of 234 runners with a time of 20:41.06. She improved from a 34th place finish as a seventh grader.
Ariah Egleston was second in for the Lady Vikings with a time of 21:39.67. She finished in the top 100 runners placing 54th.
Kaycee Moore ran a time of 23:08.80. She was followed in by Sophie Price (23:15.34) and Christiana Lytle (24:04.36).
Rachel Whelan (25:54.11) and Sallie Robbins (28:43.27) rounded out the Lady Vikings varsity top seven.
The Viking were led by captain Jonah Stanley, who led the team to 16th place finish.
Stanley ran another sub 18 performance for his final appearance of his junior season. He finished 46th with a time of 17:53.09.
Luca Hart ran a near season best of 18:16.12. He placed 73rd while Jayson Ingles placed 78th as the team’s third runner. He finished with a time of 18:25.38.
AJ Barker and Aaron Smart both ran in the 19s. Barker finished 127th with a time of 19:06.59 and Smart finished 155th with a time of 19:36.95.
Trad Egleston (20:10.21) and Chad Mabry (20:22.55) were the Vikings sixth and seventh man.
