The Rowan County boys tennis team is off to a 4-0 start with wins over Raceland, Morgan County, West Carter, and Greenup County.

The team is fairly young with one senior, one junior, one sophomore, five freshman, two 7th graders and one 6th grader.

Members of the team are Kaleb Sergent, Paul Eisenhour, Luke Burrows, Jacob Barber, Collen Tuerk, Cooper Tuerk, Conner Stamper, Jadan Fultz, Jordan Justice and Levi Shoemaker.

The top seed in singles, Barber, is looking for another trip to the state tournament, but this year in singles. Last year he and his doubles partner Bryce Kidd were seeded 4th in the region and made it to the second round at state.

The one seed doubles team of Burrows and Justice are also looking to advance to state for the first time.

The Vikings will return to action Monday, April 9, against East Carter.

The remaining matches are Tuesday, April 10, Boyd County/Fairview boys and girls, 5:30 p.m. at ATC, Thursday, April 12, Lewis County/Rose Hill, B & G, 4:30 p.m., Friday April 13, B & G, 5:30 p.m. at Greenup Co, Monday, April 16, B & G, 5:30 p.m. at Montgomery County, Tuesday through Thursday, April 17-18 (19), EKC Tennis Tournament, G & B, TBA at MSU tennis courts, 2 singles and 2 doubles, April 19, Boyd County G&B, p.m., and Friday and Saturday, April 27-28, East Carter Invitational Tournament TBA at Grayson 2 singles & 2 doubles.
