MOREHEAD Following the first 40-win campaign in program history, Morehead State baseball begins a new era as the 2020 season gets underway Friday at Shipyard Park in Mount Pleasant, S.C. The Eagles open with a four-game set against Michigan State as the team ushers in the Mik Aoki era.
Friday's season opener marks the first game at the helm of the Morehead State program for Aoki, who was named the 13th head coach in program history this past summer, bringing with him 18 years of NCAA Division I head coaching experience.
All four games can be heard live on MSUEagles.com with links available on the baseball schedule page.

Morehead State and Michigan State are meeting for the first time in the two program's histories. This marks the first new opponent for the Eagles since facing St. John's for the first time at the 2018 NCAA Clemson Regional.
While having not previously faced Michigan State, Morehead State does own a 21-31-2 record against the current membership of the Big 10 with the Eagles' last meeting against a Big 10 foe coming Feb. 26, 2017, against Iowa in Hoover, Ala.
The 2020 season marks the third consecutive season the Eagles have opened in the Palmetto State while marking the team's second trip to Shipyard Park, having helped christen the park in 2018 with UMass Lowell and Ball State in the inaugural Swig and Swing College Classic.
Morehead State's season-opening neutral-site series is just the second of its kind in the team's history and the first since facing Dayton in Emerson, Ga. on Feb. 21-23, 2015.
On July 3, 2019, Mik Aoki was named head coach of the Morehead State baseball program. The former Columbia, Boston College and Notre Dame head coach becomes the 13th head coach in program history and the first to possess prior NCAA Division I head coaching experience.
Eagle Head Coach Mik Aoki enters the opening weekend one win shy of 450 NCAA Division 1 wins in his career. His 449 career D1 wins ranks fourth most amongst Ohio Valley Conference head coaches entering the 2020 season.
Redshirt senior right-hander Jason Goe enters the 2020 season as the OVC's leading returning pitching in strikeout to walk ratio (5.91), walks allowed per nine innings (1.45), and fewest walks (11).
Goe enters the 2020 season as Morehead State's lone Preseason All-OVC selection as voted by the league's coaches and sports information directors. His selection marks the 12th straight season with a Preseason All-OVC selection.
With a start in Friday's season opener, Goe would become the first senior hurler to start opening day for Morehead State since Josh Schneider in 2012, snapping a streak of seven consecutive opening days started by non-seniors.
Junior righty Will Lozinak is the winningest returning pitcher after leading the OVC with eight victories in 2019. With a 9-1 career record, his .900 career winning percentage ranks as the best in program history (min. 10 decisions).
Senior right-hander Jake Ziegelmeyer enters the 2020 season with 10 career saves to his credit, including eight last season—a total that ranked fourth in the OVC. Currently, he ranks sixth on Morehead State's all-time career saves list.
In the official Ohio Valley Conference Preseason Predicted Order of Finish, Morehead State landed fifth as predicted by the league's coaches and sports information directors. Elsewhere, D1 Baseball picked the Eagles to finish fifth while Perfect Game selected the Eagles seventh.
