Rowan County Middle School played host to Bath County in girls’ and boys’ soccer action on Wednesday night. The Lady Vikings shut out the Lady Lions, 6-0 while the Vikings took a 7-1 victory.

Amy Roe and Rachel Schack were in goal for the Lady Viks.

“They did a great job defending,” teammate Sarah Ward said. “The defenders, Cori Burke, Casey Philips, Sarah Ward, Steph Thomas, and Morgan Cyrus didn’t let them score.”

Coach Randy Wallace said the outstanding team effort showed the team’s improvement. Haley DeVaney made two shots for the Lady Vikings while Brooke Caskey, Kara Lewis, Brianna Mekelburg, and Lauren Bauer netted one each.

“Our team really worked together last night,” player Hannah Neeper said on Thursday. “We passed well and made great plays to make the goals.”

The RCMS Lady Vikings are now 3-0 on the season.

In boys’ action, the Vikings defenders let just one goal slip in from Bath.

Justin Graham hit three points in for the Vikings. Luke Thaxton had two goals while Trevor Newsome and Sebastian Taylor had one each.

The Vikings are currently 3-0 on their season.
