UPDATED: The Rowan County Lady Vikings locked down their third 61st District title Monday night.

The Lady Vikings defeated Bath County 6-3 having claimed last year's title over the Last Cats, 4-1.

Behind hard hitting from eighth grade stand out Haven Ford, the Lady Vikings scored six runs on nine hits.

Ford went three-for four at the plate hitting two extra base hits. She hit her seventh home run of the season and her 20th double. She batted in three runners.

Erin Wilburn had an exceptional night going two-for- three and Emily Hacker hit a double for the Lady Vikings only other extra base hit.

The remaining hits were made by Bailey Trent, Elaina Ward and Bethany Sergent. Sergent was one-for-one at the plate and drew two walks.

Runs were scored by Wilburn (2), Ford, Hacker, Lexi Morris and Haley Middleton.

Senior pitcher Macy Jones took the win pitching a complete game. Jones gave up three runs on 13 hits while striking out three, and walking one. Jones owes some of Monday night’s success to an outstanding defense effort. The Lady Vikings’ defense stranded over 10 runners.

Both the Lady Vikings and the Lady Cats advance to the regional tournament starting this Saturday at Boyd County.
