American Legion Post 126 invites all veterans to Veterans Day activities on Monday, Nov. 11, in Rowan County.
A special invitation is extended to veterans of World War II and the Korean Conflict to attend a veterans program at 1:30 p.m. at Rowan County Senior High School.
Those needing transportation to the high school event may call Bill Bolen at 776-3147.
Other activities on Nov. 11 include a wreath laying ceremony at 11 a.m. at Freedom Park at the veterans wall on Main Street.
Members of the American Legion will recognize a World War I remembrance called Bells of Peace. Twenty-one bells will toll at 11 a.m. for people to reflect, remember and honor those who served and sacrificed during World War I.
The Society of the Honor Guard Tomb of the Unknown Soldier Centennial Committee also is calling for the tolling for its National Salute 2019 initiatives as the 100th anniversary approaches of the burial of an Unknown American Solder who fought and died in the war.
A bell tolling participation app is available for those who do not have bells to ring. Visit worldwar1centennial.org for more information.
Afterward, veterans will be treated to lunch at 11:30 a.m. in Ballroom A/B of the Adron Doran University Center on the Morehead State campus.
