Rowan County Schools will be open Tuesday, Dec. 3. They will use bottled water.
Due to a county-wide water emergency caused by this weekend’s rainfall and flooding, the Rowan County School System has been forced to close its schools on Monday, Dec. 2, according to the school district's website.
Rowan County Schools Supt. John Maxey said, “In the best interests of the health and safety of our students and staff, this water issue has compelled us to cancel classes. The officials at Morehead Utility Plant Board are keeping us up-to-date as to the status of this water issue. We will ensure that our students and staff are kept informed with our decisions.”
