Redwine and White

Voters will go the polls in a special election on Tuesday, Feb. 25, to cast their choice to fill the unexpired term of former state Rep. Rocky Adkins.

Adkins resigned his seat in December 2019 as 99th District representative for Elliott, Lewis and Rowan counties.

Adkins is now senior advisor to Gov. Andy Beshear.

Candidates Bill Redwine, Democrat, and Richard White, Republican, were chosen by their respective political parties to vie for the seat.

Both men also are candidates in the May 2020 primary.

Redwine is a native of Sandy Hook and served in various administrative roles at Morehead State University for nearly 40 years.

He is a former chair of the Rowan County Board of Education and past president and active member of the Morehead Optimist Club.

White is founder and president of Richard White Wood Products and former owner and developer of Cliffview Resorts.

He is a former co-chair of the Rowan County Republican Party and was the Rowan County chair for George W. Bush for President.
