The Rowan County Arts Center is holding summer art workshops for children age 10 and up.

The workshops included e-textiles June 18 to June 21 and buggy quilts Tuesday, July 9 to Friday, July 12.

“Space is limited to 10 spots and reservations are strongly suggested,” said Ashley Gilliam, director of the Rowan County Arts Center.

Students at the e-textiles workshop were taught basic circuitry and the use of conductive thread to make their own led bracelets among other projects throughout the week.

The buggy quilts workshop will teach students how to use quilting frames to set up and tie or tack a functional quilt. The workshop will be from 10 a.m. to noon and will cost $20 for all supplies.

The Rowan County Arts Center will also be holding a painting class from 10 a.m. to noon and a bracelet making class from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. from July 23 to July 26. Students can attend one for $20 or both for $35.

Parents are urged to call the Rowan County Arts Center at 783-9857 or email at to reserve a spot for their child, as there are only 10 spots in each workshop.
