Operation UNITE provides grants and information to local schools about dangers of substance use and helps staff implement educational opportunities. Recent programs include the following:

School assemblies and Red Ribbon Week activities for students and encourage parents to discuss dangers of drugs and alcohol with their child.

A bee-keeping program at the Bluegrass Discovery Academy helps students focus, develop discipline and patience.

Rowan County Middle School’s UNITE Club has more than 120 members.

GMAR (Give Me A Reason) drug testing kits for school resource officers to distribute to families.

Motivational speaker, Nathon Harmon, spoke to juniors and seniors about making positive choices, depression, the perils of social media and the unraveling of his life due to drug use. Harmon challenged students to think about how their lives speak for them.
