Mount Sterling's traditional start of the Christmas season – the Advent Musicale – will be held on Sunday, Dec. 1, at 6:30 p.m. at Ascension Episcopal Church, 48 West High Street, Mt. Sterling.

More than 30 community choir members and participating musicians from the Lexington Philharmonic, once again under the direction of UK’s Dr. Everett McCorvey, will perform George Frideric Handel’s “Coronation Anthems.”

In addition to the anthems, the choir and musicians will perform a jazzy rendition of “We Three Kings,” then top off the evening with one of Handel’s most famous works, “The Hallelujah Chorus.”

A reception will follow at the Gateway Regional Arts Center, 101 East Main Street, Mt. Sterling.

Tickets for the the 33rd annual Advent Musicale are $25 and are available now at the Gateway Regional Arts Center, at Ruth Hunt Candies, or on the GRAC’s web site — Look under “Upcoming Events and Tickets.” Tickets are limited.
