The Rotary Shoes for Good Campaign has reached its goal of 100 bags of 25 pairs of shoes. The Funds2orgs truck is picking up shoes Wednesday, June 26. They expect to have 125 bags of shoes. The shoes will go to micro businesses in third world nations. The club thanks everyone who participated in the successful drive.
Rotary believes there are kids in Rowan County who need shoes also. The club has turned to a new project called Shoes for Students. A shoe collection point will be placed at the Central Office of the Rowan County Schools at 415 West Sun Street (the old middle school). The shoes donated need to be suitable for students of all ages and will be distributed by the Family Resource Centers in each school. The shoes can be new or gently used but not boots, house slippers or high heels. New socks are also welcome.
The next Rotary meeting on June 27 at 11:30 a.m. at Gatti’s Pizza will feature Kiara Gabbard from Frontier Housing. The public is invited to her presentation about Frontier Housing's 45 years of service to Rowan County.
