Childrens Center Optimist.jpg

The Morehead Optimist Club presented Morehead Parks & Recreation Director Matt Hamilton with a check for $2,000 to sponsor a children’s learn and play center.

Located on the second floor of the Laughlin Building, this space will provide a safe learning and entertainment center for small children while mom, dad or older sibling is exercising or playing one of the various sports available in Laughlin.

This is a huge step in allowing Parks & Rec to serve the entire community, all ages, from newborn to the Golden Agers program. The Optimist Club is proud to be a partner in this endeavor.

The Morehead Optimist Club was established in 1964 and focuses primarily on activities for the youth of Morehead and Rowan County. They operate Cave Run Bingo in Farmers to fund a variety of youth programs and for the last several years have donated in excess of $175,000 annually to those programs.

For more information about the Optimist Club, contact President Bill Redwine at 356-0666 or by email at moreheadoptimistclub@gmail.com. Weekly meetings are held during the lunch hour every Tuesday at Gatti’s Pizza in Morehead.
