Morehead State University’s Ginger Hall has been closed because of damage sustained from an electrical fire in the main switch room on Saturday morning.
According to officials, repair of the high-voltage electrical distribution equipment is expected to take 1-2 weeks.
The building is currently without power, water or heat.
For safety reasons, personnel with access to Ginger Hall will not be allowed to enter the facility. Faculty and staff were permitted to enter the building during scheduled periods on Monday to collect belongings and materials needed from their offices.
The investigation into the fire is ongoing and no comment will be made until it is completed, according to the university.
The following arrangements have been made until this situation is resolved:
All courses being held in Ginger Hall will be moved online to Blackboard until further notice. Students are asked to login into Blackboard for specific instructions prior to their scheduled course time.
