Brandon McWain

Morehead Police are asking the public to help locate a second suspect in the Oct. 29 home invasion of Darlene Caskey’s residence when she was forced into a closet while her home was allegedly burglarized.

An indictment warrant has been issued for Brandon McWain, 23, who is wanted in connection to the incident that also involved 20-year-old Chase Wages who was arrested and charged with first-degree robbery, receiving stolen property over $300 and unlawful imprisonment.

Capt. Mike Adams said McWain may be armed with a .32 caliber pistol stolen during the burglary and warns against approaching the suspect.

“During our investigation, the evidence pointed to McWain as a second suspect and that evidence was presented to a Rowan County grand jury, who then issued the indictment warrant,” Adams commented Thursday. “He could be armed and dangerous and should not be approached. If anyone sees or knows of his whereabouts, they should just call the police.”

When the incident was reported, police said two white males entered Caskey’s home about 3:21 p.m., put her into a closet and removed items from her home. She escaped the closet unharmed. During the investigation, police were able to get a description of the suspects and the vehicle used in the alleged crime.

About 5:11 p.m. MPD Patrolman Derrick Blevins located and stopped the vehicle. After questioning Wages, Blevins was able to obtain a search warrant of the vehicle. The vehicle was found to contain items reported to have been taken from the residence.

Wages was arrested and remains in the Rowan County Detention Center on a $75,000 full-cash bond from district court and a no-bond from circuit court.

The active indictment warrant against McWain includes charges of first-degree burglary, receiving stolen property and unlawful imprisonment. He has been entered into the NCIC (National Crime Information Center). McWain is diabetic and requires insulin. He is described as having brown hair, blue eyes, 6-feet and 2-inches tall and has a scorpion tattoo on his throat and a joker tattoo on his left arm located on the upper, inside area.

The case remains under investigation by MPD Detective Sgt. David Sexton. The NCIC is the United States' central database for tracking crime-related information. To report McWain’s whereabouts call 784.7511.
