Morehead resident Brittany Henson, 22, was sentenced to 30 years in prison after an investigation proved she was involved in crimes involving sexual abuse of her then two-year-old son.

In December 2011, Morehead police received an anonymous tip that led to a month-long investigation where laptop images were discovered revealing Henson had been engaging in sexual activity with her young son.

Henson pleaded guilty Feb.1 to incest, sodomy first degree, promoting a sexual performance by a minor, distribution of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor and possession of matter portraying a sex performance by a minor

“Ms. Henson was sending pictures of her son to a man in Indiana who is currently under a federal investigation,” said Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Ronnie Goldy. “An investigation by Morehead Police Det. Matt Salley and an extensive search of Henson’s laptop by Capt. David Sexton and the KSP crime lab revealed several videos involving juveniles as well as images of her child,” Goldy said.

Circuit Judge William Lane sentenced Henson to 30 years per the Commonwealth’s Attorney office recommendation.

“Henson will more than likely serve her time at the Western Kentucky Correctional Complex but that will ultimately be decided by the Department of Corrections,” Goldy said.

At her sentencing Friday, Lane told Henson she would not be allowed to be on any type of social networking sites including Facebook, MySpace, chat rooms or anything of that nature while incarcerated or upon release while on parole.

“Henson will be a lifetime registrant on the Kentucky Sex Offender Registry and will be required to register any email addresses, Internet names or aliases for anything she does on the Internet,” Goldy said. “This includes any Internet gaming such as Xbox.”

Henson must serve a minimum of 17 years before becoming eligible for parole.
