The Terrific Tuesdays program at Haldeman Community Center ended on July 16 with a special dinner and program. This is their second summer enrichment program for children in grades K-5.
Gardening, cooking, birds, geography, music, crafts, practicing good manners and ways to show kindness were favorite activities.
Twenty-one students signed for the program, which was held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on four Tuesdays. Miss Donna of the Rowan County Public Library brought the bookmobile to the center. Donna read a book to the group and did a craft. Students with library cards checked out books.
Special guests for the dinner included Ashley Adkins, assistant to Cecil Watkins, Rowan County Attorney, and Rob Hamm, magistrate. Parents, family members, and community supporters enjoyed the dinner and the children's program.
Summer program staff members included Donna Gilliam, RN, Patricia Kennan, and Connie Richardson. Anna Rice and Illeanna Jones were the high school volunteers.
The free after-school program at Haldeman Community Center for students in grades K-5 begins in September. It is Monday through Thursday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Registration forms are at Rodburn Elementary School.
