Many events or services have been postponed due to concern about the coronavirus.

The Rowan County Public Library has ceased in-person interactions and materials exchanges indefinitely, effective immediately. Following CDC recommendations, the board and executive director will evaluate the situation and make announcements on the library website and on social media when it reopens. If you have items checked out, please keep them safe; the library is fine-free and no penalties will be assessed to patrons during this time.

Make use of the digital borrowing and distance learning services which can be accessed through the website or via the matching app.

The March 26 regular meeting of the Morehead-Rowan County Airport Board has been canceled. The next scheduled meeting is April 30 at 6 p.m. at the airport.

The Morehead Red Hatters will not gather this month and probably the month of April. Decision about other gatherings will be made after that. The Red Hatters ask their members to stay in and stay healthy! Contact Susan Neff at sj1neff@gmail.com or 784-8010 for information.

MSUCorps’ annual Build-a-Bed project scheduled for April 4 is rescheduled for June 13 to avoid large gatherings. Families who applied to the program have been selected and will still receive their beds. MSUCorps will announce any further changes to the schedule.

Frontier Housing will not be receiving visitors at the Flemingsburg Road office until further notice.

The Fuzzy Duck will be serving carry out only from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and CoffeeTree Books will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. All events are postponed until further notice and owners respectfully ask that groups not meet there for the time being.

The Miltary Initiatives Vietnam Veteran Appreciation event scheduled on March 31 in ADUC has been canceled.

The Morehead Optimist Club has suspended operations at Cave Run Bingo for Friday, March 13 and Saturday, March 14. A decision about future dates will be made next week.

The Cave Run Symphony Orchestra concert scheduled for March 29 has been canceled. The Adolph Rupp event (Chautauqua) has also been canceled that was scheduled for March 17.

All MSU Athletics events are suspended until April 3.

The author event with Michael Chitwood scheduled for March 31 at 6 p.m. at CoffeeTree Books has been postponed until the fall.

The Alzheimer’s Association will not be holding any live programs or live support groups until further notice. The April 6 Rowan County Caring & Sharing Alzheimer’s Support Group for Alzheimer’s Caregivers has been canceled.

The Star Theater at Morehead State University will not be offering public programs for at least the next three weeks.

CoffeeTree Books has decided to suspend Sunny’s Storytime on Saturdays and community knitting gatherings on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. 

The Rowan County Public Library will be closing its doors to the public; however, it will still be checking out items through the drive-thru window and patrons can return materials in the outside dropbox.

UPDATE:

As a precaution for the COVID-19 Corona Virus, the Rowan County Public Library Board and Executive Director have decided to close the Library building from March 16 - April 4. During this time Library services will still be available through the drive-thru window and as always patrons can return materials in the outside dropbox. Patrons may call the Library at (606) 784-7137 to place a hold or go online at rowancountylibrary.org/catalog

All items returned during this time will be quarantined and disinfected.

All previously scheduled community programs/meetings, library events, and bookmobile services are cancelled until April 18.

The Rowan County Quilt Show planned for Saturday, March 21, has been postponed.

St. Claire HealthCare's Community Baby Shower scheduled for April 4 has been postponed.

The Morehead-Rowan County Chamber of Commerce will not hold its April 2 membership luncheon.

The March 28 Art Symposium presented by the Morehead Rotary Club is also postponed. The Rotary Club's regular scheduled meeting on March 20 is canceled.

Game Night at the Morehead History and Railroad Museum on Thursday, March 12, has been canceled. The museum will be closed to the public until further notice.

‘Just As I Am’ for special needs children and adults scheduled for Thursday, March 12, has been canceled.

A jury trial set for March 12 in Rowan District Court is canceled.

Services at Morehead First Christian Church are canceled the next two Sundays, March 15, and March 22.
