David Clifford, a highly touted junior player from New Zealand, has inked a National Letter of Intent to join the Morehead State men’s tennis program. Coach Kevin Fulton announced Clifford’s intention to become an Eagle this week.

“We are very happy to have David join our program. He brings a lot of talent to campus, and I believe will be one of the top players in the OVC as a freshman,” said Fulton. “His strong work ethic and mental toughness are his strengths, and I look for him to find a spot in the singles and doubles lineups right away.”

Clifford, a native of Auckland, has been ranked as high as ninth in the International Tennis Federation’s (ITF) New Zealand junior rankings and is currently ranked 85th among all men’s players in New Zealand. In the ITF World Junior rankings, he is 380th among hundreds of players ranked.

“I have loved all sports and played many throughout my life but have loved tennis the most,” said Clifford. “I am very excited about the opportunity to go to Morehead State University, and not only study, but take my tennis to the next level in a great environment.”
