The Morehead State soccer team has been picked third for the 2012 campaign, according to the vote by the league’s head coaches.
The Eagles sit behind defending tournament champion UT Martin and regular season champion Southeast Missouri.
“We’re not particularly worried about the preseason ranking. Right now we’re just concerned about what we need to do for conference play,” said Head Coach Warren Lipka. “Our schedule is pretty tough, but we have a good bit of talent, and now it’s just time to put the pieces together to form a good team by the time we get to mid-season.”
The Eagles finished fifth in the 2011 regular season, and earned themselves a trip to the Ohio Valley Conference championship match.
MSU will play its first exhibition match at University of Evansville on Saturday at 2 p.m. before jumping into the regular season with a pair of matches on the road at Akron (Aug. 17) and Kent State (Aug. 19).
