Dolly Williams Cockrell

1917-2008


WEST LIBERTY - Mrs. Dolly Williams Cockrell, age 91 of Clearfield, Kentucky and formerly of Piqua, Ohio, passed away July 24, 2008 at St. Claire Regional Medical Center, Morehead, Kentucky.

She was born January 10, 1917 at Silver Hill, Kentucky; to the late Rev. William Anderson Williams & Sarepta Montgomery Williams.

In addition to her Parents and her late Husband; Earl Dennis Cockrell, Dolly was preceded in death by her Brothers; Thomas Albert Williams & Arlington Williams and Sister; Lizzie Ball.

In her youth, Dolly studied at the Chicago School of Nursing and was employed by the Golden Rule Hospital in Paintsville, Kentucky. She traveled extensively in the Southwest and was a resident of Albuquerque and Tucson for many years. Later, she matriculated at Catonsville College in Catonsville, Maryland, and was twice a diplomat of the Ecole National, becoming a Baltimore couteriere and quilt designer who served the Smithsonian and Washington congressional quilting societies as resource expert.

A member of Temple Baptist Church, Baltimore, Dolly's lifelong desire was "to help others who can't help themselves." She is survived by her son, Billy Cockrell, and her loving cousins, nephews, nieces, and special niece-in-law, Lila Potters Williams.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 am Sunday, July 27, 2008 at Herald & Stewart & Halsey Funeral Home with Rev. Clint Howard officiating. Interment will follow with burial in the Staver Smith Cemetery on White Oak Branch Road in West Liberty, Kentucky.

Ruby Easterling

1909-2008


WEST LIBERTY - Ruby Easterling of West Liberty, KY passed away Saturday, July 19, 2008 at the St. Claire Regional Medical Center, Morehead, KY, at the age of 98 years, 8 months, and 14 days. She was born Friday, November 5, 1909 at Farmers, KY, a daughter of the late William and Nannie Collins Swim.

Ruby was united in marriage to Homer Easterling on February 25, 1927. To this union was born one daughter, Kathleen. Ruby was a homemaker, devoting her life to care for her family and her home. She was a Christian and a member of the Blairs Mill Church of Christ since 1953, where she was a Sunday School teacher for over 45 years.
