Michael James Adkins 1970-2007
MOREHEAD - Michael James Adkins, age 37, of U.S. 60 West, Morehead, passed away Thursday, December 13, 2007, at his residence.
He was born November 24, 1970, in Xenia, Ohio, and is the son of James Adkins of Fairborn, Ohio, and Patty Eldridge Ratliff of Morehead.
He is also survived by his wife, Stephanie Nicole Shearer Adkins of Dayton, Ohio; one son, Jonathan Adkins of Tennessee; three sisters, Diane Estep of Morehead, Kristy Moore of Sandy Hook, and Melissa Adkins of Morehead; two nieces, two nephews; and a host of other family and friends. One son, Dillon Michael Adkins, preceded him in death.
Mikey was of the Baptist faith and was baptized in 1977 at Newcombe Valley Church in Isonville, Kentucky.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, December 15, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jesse Perry officiating. Burial will follow in Elliott County Memory Gardens in Sandy Hook.
Pallbearers will be Josh Carpenter, Aaron Moore, Tim Carpenter, Russell Tolson, Anthony Leadingham, and Billy Moore.
Visitation is after 6 p.m. Friday, December 14, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, Morehead, Kentucky.

Vernon D. (Dee) Spurlock 1936-2007
MOREHEAD - Vernon D. (Dee) Spurlock, age 71, of Colfax Road, Hillsboro, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2007, at Pioneer Trace Nursing Home in Flemingsburg, Kentucky.
Born July 9, 1936, in Rowan County, Kentucky, he is the son of the late Hinton and Lora Caudill Spurlock. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, the Rev. Linville Spurlock, and two sisters, Audra Spurlock and Dorothy Spurlock.
Survivors include his wife, Clara Black Spurlock; five stepsons: Charles Black of Hillsboro, Kentucky; Timothy Hurst, Troy Hurst, and William McCormick, all of Bath County, Kentucky; and James Hurst of Maysville, Kentucky; two brothers, Virgil Spurlock of Hillsboro, Kentucky and Kenneth Chester Spurlock of Goshen, Indiana; three sisters, Marjorie Harmon, Barbara Flora, and Olive Fultz, all of Hillsboro, Kentucky; 10 step grandchildren; and 4 step great-grandchildren.
Dee was a farmer and had attended the Fairview Christian Church and Johnson First Church of God.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, December 15, 2007, at the Hutton Funeral Home with the Rev. Randy Hawkins and the Rev. Sherman Sparks officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tim Hurst, James Hurst, Charlie Black, William McCormick, Troy Hurst, Gary Spurlock, Jeffrey Fultz, Darrell Harmon, and Danny Brown.
Visitation is after 5 p.m. Friday, December 14, 2007, at the Hutton Funeral Home, Hillsboro, Kentucky.
Rebecca Jane Adams Young 1927-2007
GRAYSON - Rebecca Jane Adams Young, 80, of Webbville died Tuesday in Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington KY following a brief illness. She was born October 15, 1927 in Willard a daughter of the late Vess and Carolyn McKinney Adams.
She was a retired postal service worker, a member of the Willard Missionary Baptist Church and former member of the Eastern Star Chapter 10. She played both girls and boys high school basketball for the Webbville Blue Devils along with Maggie Thompson.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harry Young in 2003, one daughter Melissa Ann Young; one brother Sheldon Adams; three sisters Mary Triplett, Loretta Griffith and Junie Thomas Maness.
Her survivors include one son and daughter in law, Kevin (Vicki) Young of Grayson; four daughters and three sons in law Paula (Paul) Stokes of Morehead KY, Kathy Young (Horizon Village) Morehead KY, Robin (Boyce) Lester and Lorrie (Rob) Handley both of Webbville KY; two sisters Charlotte Kelley of Lavonia MI and Gloria Savage of Hitchins KY; two brothers William (Bill) Adams and James Adams both of WV; eight grandchildren Kurt (Laurin) Young, Chris McDavid, Travis (Mandy) Handley, Kevin (Nikki) Stokes, Matt Stokes, Anna Stokes, Andrea (Nevada) Ison and Karrie (Mike) Campbell. Five great grandchildren Caleb Handley, Coby Handley, Haley Campbell, Conner Campbell and Kylei Stokes.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday 1:00 p.m. at the Willard Missionary Baptist Church with Ronnie Graves and Joe Savage ministers. Burial will be in the East Carter Co. Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 5-9 p.m. Thursday at the Malone Funeral Home and one hour prior at the church.
