Lydia Marie Cooper
1933-2007
MOREHEAD - Lydia Marie Cooper, age 74, of Knapp Avenue, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, December 2, 2007, at her home with Jamie and Lisa Bellamy Brown, where she had lived for the past 22 years.
Born June 3, 1933, on Grassy Lick Road in Rowan County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Wilbert Carey Cooper and Bessie Lee Morehouse Cooper.
Lydia is survived by two sisters, Sudie Cooper and Virginia Cooper, both of Morehead, and one brother, Harvey H. Cooper and his wife Loretta of Muncie, Indiana; two nephews, Larry Cooper of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Jerry Cooper of Freestone, Colorado; one niece, Connie Mochal of Muncie, Indiana; five great nephews and two great nieces.
Lydia joined the Harold and Alma Bellamy family 47 years ago when Lisa was born and has helped raise three generations of Bellamy children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved taking care of her family, cooking, and participating in family events. Lydia was a member of the Morehead First Church of God and was a devout Christian who continued to study the Bible when illness kept her from attending church. She cherished her faith in God.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 5, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Alan Hutchinson, the Rev. Ben Furman, and the Rev. George Bellamy officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Kip Bennett, Gabe Brown, Tyler Brown, Davin Barnett, Gary Lewis, Phillip Vankersen, Joey Mirus, and Jimmy Trent.
Honorary pallbearers: 2001 Rowan County Boys Basketball Team.

Velva Marie Johnson Howard
1930-2007
MOREHEAD - Velva Marie Johnson Howard, age 76, of Greenbend Road, Morehead, Kentucky passed away Saturday, December 1, 2007, at the Life Care Center in Morehead after a long illness.
She was born December 6, 1930, on Greenbend Road in Rowan County, Kentucky, to the late Arthur Dillard Johnson, Sr., and Frances Gertrude Robbins Johnson. She was raised in a Christian home along with her seven brothers and one sister. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Marcus Ray Johnson, Morris Keith Johnson, Frances Elwood Johnson, and Jack Lowell Johnson.
On December 29, 1949, she married Vernon Byron Howard, who passed away September 23, 1977.
She is survived by four children: Betty Carolyn Watkins (Johnny), Larry Douglas Howard (Zourdah), Donna Diane Sorrell (Ronnie), and Jeffrey Phillip Howard (Connie), all of Greenbend Road in Morehead; eight grandsons: John Kevin Watkins (Tammy), Christopher Lane Sorrell, Travis Scott Sorrell, Nicholas Byron Sorrell, Dustin Cody Sorrell, Larry Douglas Howard II, Benjamin Phillip Howard, and Tyler Keith Howard; and four granddaughters: Melanie Dawn Perkins (Ronnie), Jennifer Robin McMillan Thacker (Douglas), Hope Liane Lykins (Jeffrey), and Tammy Renee Hatfield (Brad).
Other survivors include five great grandsons and four great granddaughters: Jonathan Kyle Watkins, Jasmin Brooke McMillan, Hayle Marie Lykins, Michael Dylan Chase Thacker, Roy Douglas Thacker, Jr., Bethany Suzanne Thacker, Abigail Michelle Perkins, Gabriel Allen Perkins, and Justin Kole Watkins.
Other survivors include one sister, Josephine Ruth Johnson Staton of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, and three brothers, Nicola Tessla Johnson of Dayton, Ohio, Laban Franklin Johnson of West Elkton, Ohio, and Arthur Dillard Johnson, Jr. of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, along with many nieces and nephews.
Marie was an avid gardener and loved to share her many special flowers with friends and family.
Her God was first in her life and her family meant everything to her, as well as her many dear friends. She was a Hospice volunteer and crocheted angels and cross bookmarks for their families. She worked 13 years at St. Claire Regional Medical Center and was head of the S.P.D. Department for the last three years of her work.
She was a Christian and a member of Slaty Point Missionary Baptist Church. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services were conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 4, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Harley Sexton, Jr. officiating. Burial in the Slaty Point Cemetery. Grandsons served as pallbearers.

Adda Frances Johnson Stanley
1913-2007
MOREHEAD - Adda Frances Johnson Stanley, age 94, formerly of Bays Avenue, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, November 29, 2007, at the Life Care Center in Morehead.
She was born November 5, 1913, at Hilda in Rowan County, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late Ollie and Lynda Hargis Johnson. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Gayle Moles, on December 15, 1982, and her husband, Chester Stanley, on September 25, 1985.
Mrs. Stanley is survived by one brother, Clint Johnson of Morehead, Kentucky, and one grandson, Karl Anthony Moles of Morehead, Kentucky.
Graveside services will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 5, 2007, at the White Cemetery on Christy Creek with the Rev. Lloyd Dean officiating. There is no visitation.
Arrangements are under the direction of Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Wanda Lee Cooper Treadway
1937-2007
MOREHEAD - Wanda Lee Cooper Treadway, age 70, of Fulton, Missouri, passed away Saturday, December 1, 2007, at Callaway Community Hospital in Fulton, Missouri.
Born September 12, 1937, at Caney in Morgan County, Kentucky, Wanda was the oldest child of Charles Vester Cooper and Beulah Anna Hardin Cooper. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Treadway, and a son, Owen Ray Treadway.
Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Lee and Danny Treadway, both of Marshall, North Carolina, and four siblings, Vileta (Paul) Williamson of Clearfield, Kentucky; Nellie Jo (Tommy) Whitt of Wrigley, Kentucky; Linda (Gary) Althiser and Charles Ray (Tooter) Cooper of Fulton, Missouri.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, December 6, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Harley Sexton, Jr., officiating. Wanda will be laid to rest at the Hardin Family Cemetery on Big Lick Road in Morgan County, Kentucky. Pallbearers will be Gary Althiser, Tommy Whitt, Bobby Hardin, Brandon Cantrell, and Anthony Sublett.
Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Thursday, December 6, 2007, at Northcutt and son Home for Funerals.

Eldiva Saunders Wood
1928-2007
MOREHEAD - Eldiva Saunders Wood, age 79, of Salt Lick, Kentucky, passed away Friday, November 30, 2007, at the Life Care Center in Morehead, Kentucky.
She was born August 22, 1928, in Hillsboro, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late Alvin and Lillie Nealis Saunders. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Harold Wood in 1981; one sister, Mildred Teater; and two brothers, Alvin W. Saunders and James Saunders.
Mrs. Wood is survived by two sisters, Juanita Saunders of Flemingsburg, Kentucky, and Olive Waterman of Norman, Oklahoma, and several nieces and nephews including, James Saunders and his wife Ruby of Salt Lick, Kentucky, with whom she had lived for several years.
Graveside services and interment were conducted 1 p.m. Monday, December 3, 2007, at the Hillsboro Cemetery with the Rev. Steve Hickerson officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Hutton Funeral Home, Hillsboro, Kentucky.
Brenda Armstrong Woodall
1946-2007
MOREHEAD - Brenda Armstrong Woodall, age 60, of U.S. 60 West, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, December 1, 2007, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.
Brenda was born December 11, 1946, in Rowan County, Kentucky, and is the daughter of Wathan and Juanita Lambert Armstrong and the mother of Donna Carol Woodall, all of Morehead. Other survivors include aunts and uncles, other family and friends. Her husband, Don Woodall, preceded her in death on March 16, 1986.
Brenda was a graduate of Rowan County High School, where she was a member of the band. She was previously employed at the Rowan County Courthouse, Cave Run Clinic, and St. Claire Regional Medical Center. She attended Johnson First Church of God.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 5, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Ben Furman, the Rev. Vernon Lambert, and the Rev. David Starcher officiating. Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Willie Roberts, Cecil Watkins, Joe White, Jack Roe, Dwight Clark, and Keith McCormick.
Visitation is after 6 p.m. Tuesday, December 4, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Ronnie Virgin
1941-2007
GREENUP – Charles Ronald Virgin, 66, of Oldtown, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Nov. 30, 2007 at Hospice Care Center in Lexington.
He was born June 26, 1941 at Oldtown, a son of the late Charles C. and Minnie Fannin Virgin.
He was a member of the Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church in Oldtown, member of the American Trap Shooters Association, an avid fisherman, enjoyed building and had built many log homes, and coached softball for many years. He was a retired teacher having taught at Oldtown Elementary and Greenup County High School and was principal at Hitchins Elementary and Oldtown Elementary schools.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Berniece Rogers Virgin; one brother, Rezin Virgin; and one sister, Barbara Virgin Carpenter.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa Clark Virgin; two daughters and sons-in-law, Ronda and Ted Sloan of Lawrenceburg and Lori and David Dickerson and their children, Josie Sloan, Abbie Sloan, Baylie Sloan, Barry Dickerson and Megan Dickerson of Morehead; one son and daughter-in-law, Brandon and Christy Virgin and their daughter Pascha Virgin of Lexington; and one step son, T.J. Latimer and his sons Ethan Latimer and Devin Latimer of Oldtown.
Services were conducted Sunday, Dec. 2 at the Reed Funeral Home at Greenup with Ronnie Sisk and Pastor John Lybrook officiating. Burial at the Virgin-Latimer Cemetery at Hereford Hollow, Oldtown.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church, 3486 Laurel Road, Greenup, KY 41144.
