Beulah Anna Hardin Cooper Kern
1919-2007

MOREHEAD - Beulah Anna Hardin Cooper Kern, of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, November 17, 2007, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. She was the 88-year-old matriarch of four generations.

Beulah was born April 29, 1919, at Wrigley in Morgan County, Kentucky, the youngest child of John Henry Lewis and Martha Bell Hardin. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Vester Cooper; her second husband, Joseph Kern; her older siblings: Carmie, Ace, Dewey, Clayton, Bob, Will, Ollie, Arlie, Cleatus, and Hollie; and her granddaughter, Uyvonna Cantrell.

She is survived by her five children: Wanda (Lonnie) Treadway of Fulton, Missouri; Vileta (Paul) Williamson of Clearfield, Kentucky; Linda (Gary) Althiser of Fulton, Missouri; Nellie Jo (Tommy) Whitt of Wrigley, Kentucky; and Charles Ray (Tooter) Cooper of Fulton, Missouri.

She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; and her beloved dog, Angel.

Funeral services were conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Harley Sexton, Jr., officiating. Beulah was laid to rest at the Hardin Family Cemetery on Big Lick Road in Morgan County, Kentucky.

Mary Jo Skaggs Stafford
1928-2007

MOREHEAD - Mary Jo Skaggs Stafford, age 79, of Butts Cemetery Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, November 17, 2007, at her residence.

She was born November 27, 1928, in Elliott County, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late Ora Granville and Betha Smith Skaggs. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse J. Stafford; one son, Jerry Lee Sparks; one sister, Doris Hannah; and one granddaughter, Jennifer (Jenny) Cornett.

Survivors include one son, Sam M. Sparks of Morehead; four daughters, Shirley Blair of Morehead, Kentucky; Lois Gilliland of Columbus, Ohio; Dixie Sparks of New Port Richey, Florida; and Marium Glover of Morehead, Kentucky; four stepchildren, Bonita Lowe of Morehead, Kentucky; Joyce Breeze of Morehead, Kentucky; Carla Brown of Lexington, Kentucky; and Harold Stafford of Morehead, Kentucky; one brother, Harlan Skaggs of Stark, Kentucky; one sister, Ellen Mabry of Hillsboro, Kentucky; 12 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Stafford was a homemaker and former employee of Case Manufacturing in Olive Hill, Kentucky. On March 4, 1989, she was baptized and became a member of the Church of God New World Ministries.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 21, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor George Trent officiating. Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Scott Clevenger, Ronnie Sparks, Brian Clevenger, David Sparks, Cass Blair, and Aaron Dourson.

Visitation is after 6 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
