Ezelle Flannery Lane
1925 – 2007

MOREHEAD – Ezelle Flannery Lane, 81, passed away Friday, September 14, 2007 in the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville, Kentucky.
She was born on September 18, 1925 in Carter County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Elder Robert Lee Flannery and Hildreth Parker Flannery.
Ezelle was a retired florist having owned and operated Ezelle’s Flowers in Morehead for many years. She was well know and respected in the floral business having won many state and national awards in floral design. She was a member of the Morehead First Baptist Church and The Painted Hills Garden Club. She enjoyed entertaining, cooking, traveling, playing bridge and took great pride in her home, flowers and gardens. Ezelle also helped with the flowers and plantings at Morehead’s Fountain Park when it was established.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Ernest DeHart who passed away in 1970, her second husband, William C. (Bill) Lane who passed away in February 2007, brothers, R. L. Flannery, Paul Flannery and four infant brothers and one sister, Yvonne Belcher.
Survivors include one son, Phil DeHart and his wife, Ann of Madisonville, two step-sons, Drew Lane and his wife, Jayne of Somerset and William C. Lane III and his wife, Gail of Polkville, North Carolina, two brothers, Ronald Flannery of Louisville and Gayle Flannery of Knoxville, Tennessee, three sisters, Deloris Whitsel of Apple Valley, Illinois, Glenna Mullins and Gloria Jean Spurlock both of Greenup, two grandchildren, Samantha Allard and Phillip David DeHart, six step-grandchildren, Kelly McGowan, Evans Lane, Sarah Cash, William C. Lane IV, Andrew Lane and Marsha Blaney, four great-grandchildren, Justin Hendrix, Brianna Allard, Allison DeHart and Daniel Phillip DeHart, three step-great-grandchildren, Justin Lane, Taylor Blaney and Brian Blaney and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 18, 2007 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Caldwell and Dr. Jack Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in the Brown Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Evans Lane, Russell Roe, Wayne Ferguson, William Waddell, Doug Caldwell and Drew Lane.

Virgie Lee Lambert Manning
1917-2007

MOREHEAD - Virgie Lee Lambert Manning, age 90, of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, September 16, 2007, at the Life Care Center in Morehead.
She was born August 1, 1917, in Rowan County, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late Dock and Minnie Moore Lambert. Her husband, Earnest C. Manning, passed away August 24, 1994. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Earnest Clinton Manning, Jr. and John Paul Manning; one daughter, Joyce Turvy; one granddaughter, Rhonda Booher; one great-grandson, Ryan Farmer; two brothers, Russell Lambert and Claude Lambert; and three sisters, Myrtle Kidd, Gladys Blankenbecker and Gertrude Blankenbecker.
Survivors include three sons, Kenneth Manning of Campbellsville, Kentucky, Von Manning of Morehead, Kentucky and Hollie Manning of Morehead, Kentucky; three daughters, Ruth Caudill of Morehead, Kentucky, Shelby Manning of Morehead, Kentucky, and Nona Bartell of Branson, Missouri; two brothers, Curt Lambert of Glasgow, Kentucky, and Edward Lambert of Missouri; and two sisters, Maxine Butcher of Morehead, Kentucky, and Florence Lykins of Frankfort.
She is also survived by 22 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Manning was a homemaker and especially enjoyed gardening, her flowers, and her family. She was a member of a nondenominational church.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 19, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Shane Brown and Joel Crawford officiating. Burial will follow in Ditney Ridge Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation is after 4 p.m. Tuesday, September 18, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Charles Jack Mocabee
1945-2007

MOREHEAD - Charles Jack Mocabee, age 62, of Mocabee Lane, Olive Hill, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, September 15, 2007, at his residence. He was born March 28, 1945, in Carter County, Kentucky, and was the son of the late Mack and Beatrice Trumbo Mocabee.
He is survived by his wife, Lovena Ann Johnson Mocabee, two sons, Charles Sheldon Mocabee of Morehead, Kentucky, and Paul Joseph Mocabee of Olive Hill, Kentucky; one daughter, LeeAnn Rene’ Mocabee of Olive Hill, Kentucky, and six grandchildren, Joshua Nathan Mabry, Elijah Caleb Mabry, Jacob Hunter Hilterbrand, Charles Cody Mocabee, Tamera Deanna Mocabee, and Reanna Paige Mocabee. One grandson, Sheldon Mocabee, preceded him in death.
Other survivors include four brothers, William Dee Mocabee of Mansfield, Ohio, Mack “Tom” Mocabee, Jr., of Olive Hill, Kentucky, Donald Mocabee of Wurtland, Kentucky, and Johnny Mocabee of Morehead, Kentucky; and one sister, Maxine Conn of Soldier, Kentucky.
Mr. Mocabee was a former employee of Sealmaster in Morehead.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 19, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Robbie Puckett and Clay Miller, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Johnson Cemetery on Mocabee Creek in Carter County.
Pallbearers will be Johnathan Mocabee, Dana Mocabee, Caleb Mabry, Josh Mabry, James Bradley, James Dee Mocabee, and Chris Johnson.
Visitation is after 7 p.m. Monday, September 17, 2007, and anytime Tuesday, September 18, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Steven Moore
1963 - 2007

MOREHEAD - Steven Burns Moore, age 43, of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away September 16, 2007.
He was born November 19, 1963, in Zanesville, Ohio, to James Ray Moore, who preceded him in death on February 7, 1970, and Carolyn Annabella Tucker Moore.
A 1982 graduate of Rowan County Senior High School, Steve was a member of the 1981 Vikings football team which was undefeated during its regular season.
His love for football never waned and he recently served as a coach for the Youth Football League.
Steve enjoyed living in the forested area where his home was located in Pine Hills so he could be surrounded by the family he loved and the peaceful retreat that nature provided.
He was an avid University of Kentucky and NASCAR fan and was proud to be a Kentucky Colonel. He was employed by Kenney Construction.
Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Jana Maria McIntosh Moore and his beloved son, Brandon James Moore; his mother, Carolyn Annabella Tucker Moore of Morehead; one brother, Jimbo Moore of Morehead; two sisters, Liegh Ann Moore of Morehead, Kentucky, and Jenny Brown of Taylor Mill, Kentucky; three nieces, one nephew; and one great-niece.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday, September 19, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Dr. Jack Ellis, Pastor Mark Caldwell, and Pastor Jeff Fannin officiating.
Special music will be provided by Jeff Fannin and Tony Pence. Burial will follow in the Moore Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Kelly Curtsinger, Jimmy Roberts, Bill Kelsey, Chuck Ferguson, Bob Razor, Chris Caldwell, Bill Brock, and Bill Poe. Honorary pallbearers will be Shelley Bennett, Kim Hamilton, Jim Wooley, Ray Graham, and Ronnie Moore.
