Carl Christian 1925-2008
MOREHEAD – Carl Christian, 82, of Richmond, Kentucky formerly of Morehead passed away Thursday, May 1, 2008 in the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond after an illness of several weeks.
He was born on June 7, 1925 in Haldeman, Kentucky, a son of the late Herbert and Mamie Sturgill Christian.
Mr. Christian was a retired typesetter for Yeager Typesetting in Columbus, Ohio and a United States Navy Veteran having served during World War II. He enjoyed the outdoors and camping.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Claude Christian and one sister, Marie Gulley.
Survivors include his wife, Kathryn Butler Christian of Richmond, one son, David Christian and his wife, Sue of Richmond, three brothers, Verner Christian of Miamisburg, Ohio, Ralph Christian of Jacksboro, Tennessee and Jimmie Christian of Franklin, Ohio, one sister, Bernice Gulley of Morehead, sister-in-law, Naomi Christian of Danville and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 A.M. Monday, May 5, 2008 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Rev. Lloyd Dean and Chaplain James Demaray officiating. Burial was in the Brown Cemetery. Full military rites were conducted at the graveside by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.
Pallbearers were David Christian, Michael Gulley, Rick Waltz, Mark Gulley, Scott Lynch, Adam King, James Arnett and Rick Logan and honorary pallbearers were Clyde Cooley, Wilbert Crager and Earl Alderman.

Rosella (Babe) Conn Fitzpatrick 1926-2008
MOREHEAD - Rosella (Babe) Conn Fitzpatrick, age 82, of Glenwood Hollow, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Monday, May 5, 2008, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.
She was born March 19, 1926, in Carter County, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late Andrew Jackson (Pod) Conn and Nora Fraley Burns Conn. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dave Fitzpatrick, on October 6, 1968, and one daughter, Donna Kay Snedegar on May 19, 1968.
She is survived by two sons, Charles W. Fitzpatrick and wife Ki Son of Clarksville, Tennessee, and Billy Fitzpatrick of Morehead, Kentucky; four daughters, Charlotte (Tom) Dailey and husband Junior, June Glover, and Shirley Lewis, all of Morehead, Kentucky, and Cindy Rivers and husband Bobby of Olive Hill, Kentucky; and one sister, Arella Conn of Lexington, Kentucky.
Other survivors include seven grandchildren, Candace, Adam, Caleb, Olivia and Bobby Fitzpatrick, Allie Lyons, and Morgan Rivers; two great grandchildren, Robert and Amanda Fitzpatrick; and Rosella’s dear friend and caregiver, James Eric Lightfoot.
Babe was a graduate of Olive Hill High School. She loved reading, gardening, quilting working in flowers, and sharing her flower seeds and bulbs. She also enjoyed visiting with friends in person and on the phone and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Ray Glover and Brother Don Rivers officiating. Burial will follow in the Fitzpatrick Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Burton, Bobby Rivers, Bobby Fitzpatrick, Bob Marsh, Adam Fitzpatrick, Jim Bo Moore, and Mike Smedley.
Visitation is after 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Ray P. Maze 1931-2008
MOREHEAD – Ray P. Maze, 76, of West Main Street passed away Friday, May 2, 2008 in the St. Claire Regional Medical Center.
He was born on October 11, 1931 in Bath County, Kentucky, a son of the late Robert M. and Adah Belle Alderson Maze.
Mr. Maze was a retired pipeline worker and a United States Navy Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. He was a graduate of Salt Lick High School and he enjoyed fishing and caring for his pets.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Frances Massey.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Messer Maze of Morehead, two sons, Bob Maze of Leitchfield and Rodney Maze of Morehead, two daughters, Anita Willoughby and her husband, David of Georgetown and Gina Day and her husband, Randy of Morehead, two brothers, J. W. Maze and his wife, Ruby of Elizabeth City, North Carolina and Howard Maze and his wife, Lotus of Frenchburg, one sister, Katie Dublin of Champaign, Illinois, nine grandchildren, Randa Day Gilliam, Adam Day, Kristen Willoughby, Samantha Willoughby, Caleb Maze, Justin Willoughby, Audrey Maze, Sydney Maze and Trevor Maze, one great-granddaughter, Madilyn Gilliam and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, May 4, 2008 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Rev. Vernon Winston Lambert officiating. Burial was in the Polksville Cemetery in Bath County. Full military rites were conducted at the graveside by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.
Pallbearers were David Willoughby, Randy Day, Adam Day, Jarrod Gilliam, Nick Johnson and Justin Perkins.

Mary Leota Anderson Murphy 1917-2008
MOREHEAD - Mary Leota Anderson Murphy, age 91, of Mabry Drive, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Friday, May 2, 2008, at the Life Care Center in Morehead.
She was born March 22, 1917, in Hinton, West Virginia, and was the daughter of the late Kelly and Bessie Massie Anderson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. James William Murphy on July 23, 2001; her son, Sergeant Major William Larry Murphy, Sr., on May 4, 1988; and her daughter, Kelia Ann Shelton on March 15, 2003.
Mrs. Murphy is survived by three grandchildren, William Larry Murphy, Jr., Tammy Jean Lawrence, and Kayla Morrison; three great grandchildren, Thomas Murphy, Kian Morrison, and Jeanie Lawrence; and her daughter-in-law, Sara Jean (Cherry) Porter Murphy of Fayetteville, North Carolina.
Rev. and Mrs. Murphy owned and operated Pasquales Pizza in Morehead for a number of years. She was a devout Christian and member of the Johnson Church of God.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Mark Poston and the Rev. Ben Furman officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Don Litton, Joe White, Ron Workman, David Nutter, Bud Stidom, and Jerry Scruggs.
Visitation is after 6 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
