Lucille Smedley Carroll
1948-2008


MOREHEAD - Lucille Smedley Carroll, age 59, of Blue Hall Road, Soldier, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at her residence.

She was born April 12, 1948, in Morgan County, Kentucky, and is the daughter of Evalee Wilder Smedley of Soldier, Kentucky, and Murlin Smedley, who preceded her in death in 1993. One daughter, Christi Ann Carroll , and one brother, David Smedley, also preceded her in death.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Tom L. Carroll; three sons, Larry Mynhier of Olive Hill, Kentucky, Chris Mynhier of Frankfort, Kentucky, Eric Carroll of Olive Hill, Kentucky; one daughter, Stacy Carroll of Soldier, Kentucky; two brothers, Mike Smedley of Morehead, Kentucky, and Jimmy Smedley of Soldier, Kentucky; three sisters, Gail Hussey of Owingsville, Kentucky, Carol Cook and Teresa Lee, both of Olive Hill, Kentucky; and eight grandchildren

Mrs. Carroll was a homemaker.

Funeral services will be conducted 3:30 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Leonard Carroll and Rev. Lonnie Conn officiating. Burial will follow in the Wilder Cemetery in Morgan County, Kentucky.

Pallbearers will be Larry Mynhier, Chris Mynhier, Jimmy Smedley, James Lee, Lawrence Martin, and Michael Smedley.

Visitation is after 7 p.m. Thursday, April 10, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Franklin D. “Jack” Catron
1934-2008


MOREHEAD – Franklin D. “Jack” Catron, 73, of Maple Lane passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2008 in the St. Claire Regional Medical Center.

He was born on July 17, 1934 in Carter County, Kentucky, a son of the late John and Kate Nickles Catron.

Mr. Catron was a retired machine setter for Ford Motor Company in Ypsilanti, Michigan. He was a Kentucky Colonel and attended the Sharkey Free Will Baptist Church. Mr. Catron enjoyed taking care of his home and yard, attending church, working in the church, traveling and visiting with family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Herbert Owen Catron, who was killed in action while serving in the Navy during World War II and an infant brother and one sister, Jessie Oxendine.

Survivors include his wife, Charlene Silcox Catron, whom he married on May 17, 1956, of Morehead, six sisters, Jewell Seagraves, Christine Johnson and Pauline Johnson all of Morehead, Maxine Stephens of Lebanon, Ohio, Olive Lee Pierce of Mansfield, Ohio and Martha Silcox of Ypsilanti, Michigan and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Friday, April 11, 2008 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Rev. Harley Sexton, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Catron Cemetery in Elliott County.

Pallbearers will be nephews.

Deward Forrest Clark
1940-2008


WISCONSIN – Deward Forrest Clark, a native of Morehead, passed away at his home in Racine, Wis., on Monday, March 31, 2008 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Deward was born Sept. 30, 1940. He was the son of the late Elwood and Lucy Esham Clark. Preceding him in death were two brothers, Curtis Luke Clark and George Gilbert Clark. He is survived by his wife Judith Terhaar Clark; one daughter, Laura Sterling; one son-in-law, Mark Sterling; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Kaye Elam, Rebecca Harrison and Vivian Clark, and five brothers, Clay Clark, Glennis Clark, Woody Clark, Rex Clark and Harry Clark and many nieces and nephews.

Deward, a life-long resident of Racine, was known to many as “Moe.” He was a veteran of the United States Army. He worked as a carpenter for many years in the Racine area, operating his own business, “Moe’s Home Installation.” In addition, he retired from St. Luke’s Hospital in Racine where he worked as a service engineer. Deward enjoyed playing darts, working and helping others.

Funeral services were held Friday, April 4 at the Sturino Funeral Home in Racine. A Committal Service followed at Southern Wisconsin Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, with full military rites.

Robert H. Easterling
1941-2008


MOREHEAD - Robert H. Easterling, age 67, of Blairs Mill, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at the Morgan County Appalachian Regional Hospital in West Liberty, Kentucky.

He was born March 10, 1941, in Morgan County, and was the son of the late Boyd Newton and Anna V. Gross Easterling. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Eldon Easterling and Boyd Easterling, Jr.

On October 31, 1959, Robert was united in marriage to Janice Easterling, his wife of 48 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Dana and Idell Easterling of Elk Fork, Kentucky; one daughter, Tammy and Ronald Gibson of Blairs Mill, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Brittany Easterling, Ashley Click and Ryan Gibson; two step grandchildren, Ryan and Evan O’Neal; and one great grandchild, Austin Kyle Easterling.

Other survivors include one brother, James Easterling of Blairs Mill, Kentucky, and two sisters, Joanne Hardin and Sandi Ruth, both of Morehead, Kentucky.

Robert was a former employee of Packs, Inc. and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and 4-wheeling. He also loved visiting and being with his family and friends. He had been a member of the Oak Hill Church of God since 1993.

Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Thursday, April 10, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Herbie Lewis and the Rev. Gary Madden officiating. Burial was in Blair Cemetery at Blairs Mill, Kentucky.

Pallbearers were Ryan and Evan O’Neal, Gale Thornsberry, Larry, Kenny, Rodney and Chris Easterling, and J. R. Ruth.

Arrangements were under the direction of Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.

Jane Harvey McKinney Harris
1952-2008


MOREHEAD – Jane Harvey McKinney Harris, 56, of North Tolliver passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at her residence after an illness of several weeks.

She was born on March 30, 1952 in West Liberty, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Chester and Beatrice Fugett Harvey.

Mrs. Harris was a CMA/CNA having worked at the Life Care Center for 29 years. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from Morehead State University and also attended Lees Junior College. She was a devoted Christian having been a member of the Hayes Branch Community Church and she enjoyed people, working, reading the Bible and watching game shows.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Larry Joe McKinney who passed away on December 15, 1985 and one son, Ryan Matthew McKinney.

Survivors include her husband, Ricky Harris, whom she married on December 11, 1999, of Morehead, two sons, Larry Michael McKinney and his wife, Tonya of Fleming-Neon, and Stephen Ray Harris of Morehead, one sister, Jean Harvey Keeton of Morehead, three grandchildren, Graham McKinney, Abbigail McKinney and Emily McKinney, her mother-in-law, Zella “Mumzie” Harris of Morehead, special friend, Ruby Boggs of Morehead and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, April 12, 2008 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Brother Ray Glover and Brother Don Rivers officiating. Burial will follow in the Trumbo Hill Cemetery. Visitation is after 6:00 P.M. Friday.

Pallbearers will be Larry Michael McKinney, Ray Crum, Jimmy Neace, Rob Strausbaugh, Tony Kronmueller and Chris Hampton.

Arley (Junior) Williams
1926-2008


MOREHEAD - Arley (Junior) Williams, age 81, of Norton, Ohio, a Rowan County native, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at the Magnolia Care Center in Wadsworth, Ohio.

He was born August 3, 1926, at Cranston, Kentucky, and was the son of the late Henry and Ethel Stone Williams. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Violet Pendland and Ruby Thomas, and one brother, Harold Williams.

He is survived by his wife, Emma Johnson Williams; one son, Jack Williams of Norton, Ohio; one daughter, Janet Williams of Norton, Ohio; and two grandchildren, Greg Williams and Lydia Williams.

Other survivors include two sisters, Faye Evans of Morehead, Kentucky, and Ruth Plank of Clearwater, Florida.

Mr. Williams retired from Firestone Tire in Akron, Ohio.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Don Evans officiating. Burial will follow in the Adams-Plank Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Tim Brown, Don Maher, Pat Maher, Eric Maher, Justin Maher, Greg Williams, Mark Esham, Kevin Estep, and Devin Estep.

Visitation is after 6 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
