Ardith Caudill
1920-2008


MOREHEAD - Ardith May Stephens Caudill, age 87, of Brown Ridge Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at her residence.

She was born May 17, 1920, in Elliott County, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late James O. and Grace Hampton Stephens.

Her husband, Jeff B. Caudill, preceded her in death on January 17, 1990, and her son, Roger Dale Simmons in 2003. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Ison, and two brothers, Virgil Stephens and Elmer Stephens.

She is survived by one sister, Beulah Johnson, of Sandy Hook, Kentucky; daughter-in-law, Sophia Simmons, granddaughter, Patricia Dillon and husband Mike; and great-granddaughter, Morgan, all of Dayton, Ohio. A host of nieces and nephews also survive.

Mrs. Caudill was a homemaker and a member of the Concord Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 14, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Billy T. Price officiating. Burial will follow in the Caudill Cemetery on Brown Ridge Road.

Pallbearers will be Adam Kelley, Joey Barker, John Messer, Donnie Rigsby, Randy Sluss, Billy Conley, and Ernie Stephens.

Visitation is after 5 p.m. Thursday, March 13, 2008 at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Betty Pearl Click
1930-2008


MOREHEAD - Betty Pearl Click, age 77, of Valparaiso, Indiana, formerly of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Monday, March 10, 2008, at Porter Memorial Hospital.

She was born June 22, 1930, in Haldeman, Kentucky, and was the daughter of William and Jessie Lewis. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, James R. Lewis of Morehead, Kentucky; and her eldest son, James R. (Roxann) Click of Chesterton, Indiana.

Betty is survived by her husband, John Click, Jr.; two daughters, Patricia Joyce (Roger D.) Childers and Kathy Lynne (George S.) Patitsas; and one son, John William Click, all of Valparaiso, Indiana; and six grandchildren, Amy E. (Terry) Dixon of Valparaiso, Indiana, Amanda R. (Kevin) Childers-Martin of Portage, Indiana, Megan L. Click of Chesterton, Indiana, Christopher R. Childers of Highland, Indiana, Jessica L. Click of Chesterton, Indiana, and Margaret L. Patitsas of Valparaiso, Indiana.

Betty is also survived by one sister, Joyce (Daniel) Lewis of Elliottville, Kentucky, and three brothers, Paul (Joanne) Lewis of Clinton, Illinois, Jack (Faye) Lewis of Haldeman, Kentucky, and Daniel (Amelia) Lewis of Morehead, Kentucky.

Betty was a 1948 graduate of Haldeman High School and began teaching in a one-room schoolhouse in Paragon, Kentucky. She married her lifelong friend in 1950 and moved to Gary, Indiana, shortly thereafter. She led a happy, active life, surrounded by her family and friends, and the Bethel Primitive Baptist Church, which she served as clerk. She had a lifelong love of reading, which she imparted to all of her children and grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother to her family. She was dearly loved and sorely missed.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, March 15, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Elder F. T. Littleton officiating. Burial will follow in Newsill Cemetery.

Visitation is from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, March 14, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Roger Willis Conley
1948-2008


MOREHEAD - Roger Willis Conley, age 59, of Oakdale Court, Clearfield, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky.

He was born June 28, 1948, in Johnson County, Kentucky, and is the son of Ruth Long Conley of Oil Springs, Kentucky, and the late Willis Hershell Conley.

Roger is survived by his wife of 39 years, Shirlene Davis Conley, whom he married April 26, 1968; one daughter, Tina Conley Kiser of Pikeville, Kentucky; one son, Anthony Willis Conley of Morehead, Kentucky; and two sisters, Sarah Bailey of Lowmansville, Kentucky, and Susan Sanor of Oil Springs, Kentucky.

Roger was a 1966 graduate of Oil Springs High School and received the B. S. Degree in Agriculture from Morehead State University in 1971. He was a retired supervisor with the Kentucky Department of Agriculture in the Animal Health Division. For 17 years, he was a manager at Southern States in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, and in Louisa, Ashland, and Morehead, Kentucky.

He was a former member of Kiwanis International in Morehead, a Little League Commissioner, and member of Odd Fellows Lodge in Ashland, Kentucky. He was an avid bird watcher and thoroughly enjoyed his pets.

Roger was a member of the Sharkey Free Will Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, March 15, 2008, at the Sharkey Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Harley Sexton, Jr., officiating. Burial will follow in the Litteral Cemetery at Oil Springs in Johnson County, Kentucky.

Visitation is after 5 p.m. Friday, March 14, 2008, at Sharkey Free Will Baptist Church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Odell G. Hamilton
1917-2008


SHELBY, OHIO - Odell G. Hamilton, age 90, of Shelby, died Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at Med Central Shelby Hospital after a short illness.

She was born August 10, 1917 in Smile, Rowan County, Kentucky the daughter of the late James and Ida (Wright) McFarland. During World War II, Odell worked at the Pentagon in Washington DC. After that, she was employed at Interstate Lunches in Dayton. In the 1960’s she managed the Schiffer Apartments in Shelby and retired from Balanoff Metal Products in Shelby. Odell was very musically inclined and could play any instrument. However, her favorite was the piano. She was an avid radio listener and kept up-to-date on all current events. Her mind was sharp till the end. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, collecting sheet music, and making quilts and dolls. She knew no strangers and when she made a friend, it was for life. Odell’s greatest passion was her family. She especially loved the times she spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Odell is survived by a son and his wife, Doug and Cathy Hamilton of Shelby; 3 grandchildren, Robin and Matt Smedley, Jennifer and Todd Markwell, Dustin and Rachel Hamilton all of Shelby; 5 great grandchildren, Dustin and Austin Markwell, Cassidy, Remington, Kennady Smedley; 2 sisters, Nancy Dalton of Loveland, Ohio and Mearl Caudill of Clearfield, KY. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley C. Hamilton in 1988 and by 4 brothers, Arville, Jack, Ezra, and Earl, and 6 sisters, Annie, Emma, Jesse, Nona, Wilda, and June.

Friends may call on Thursday, March 13, 2008 from 3-5 and 7-9 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby where funeral services will be held on Friday, March 14, 2008 at 10:30 AM. June Brown Parker
1937-2008


Mansfield, OHIO - June D. (Brown) Parker, 70, of Mansfield passed away at her home Saturday March 8, 2008. She was born June 17, 1937 in Elliot County, Kentucky to the late Ruby Johnson Brown and Watt Brown. June graduated from the Olive Hill High School in 1955. She then attended Morehead State College for three years and obtained her teaching certificate. June then taught at Providence and Leatherwood one-room schools for one year each. She married Kenneth R. Parker on June 20, 1959 and would have celebrated 49 years together this coming June. June anticipated the awaiting of the fall foliage, as well as the welcoming of spring to view the new birth of flowers and the thrilling news of the future birth of her first great grandchild. All that knew her will miss her beautiful smile, her accent, and her care and health concerns of others despite the continuing maladies of her own.

Surviving are her husband, Kenneth R, Parker; one son, Rick Parker of Ontario, OH; one grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Kenneth N. Parker and Amy M. Parker of Lewis Center, Ohio. Other survivors include her brothers John Brown of Mansfield and Chester and Ellen Brown of Ashland, KY; numerous cousins; nieces Ruby Brown of Mansfield, Jennifer Brown of South Carolina; nephews, Ron Brown of Medina, OH, Jeff Brown of Texas, Eric Brown and wife of Ashland KY; and special friend of many years Carrie Winfrey.

Preceding her in death are parents and an infant sister Olive.

Many acquired friends will mourn her physical death and many Brother and Sister members of the Taylortown Community Church will rejoice at her entry into God’s waiting arms. “Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest,” St. Matthew 11:28. Friends may call the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Tuesday March 11, from 3-5 and 6-8 pm. Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Doug Tackett on Wednesday March 12, at 10:30 in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Franklin Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Taylortown Community Church Building Fund.
