Bobby Joe Morrison 1939-2008
MOREHEAD – Bobby Joe Morrison, 68, of Island Fork Road passed away Thursday, February 28, 2008 at his residence.
He was born on March 19, 1939 in Morehead, Kentucky, a son of the late Reed and Myrtle Bayes Morrison.
Mr. Morrison was a former construction worker, pipeline worker and United States Air Force Veteran. He was a member of the Church of God and American Legion and he was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, George Herbert (“G. H.”) Morrison, Sammy Morrison, Charles Morrison and David Lee Morrison, one sister, Elizabeth Quesinberry, brother-in-law, Walter Cooper and nephew, Ryan Cooper.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Anna Jane Jones Morrison of Morehead, one son, Gary Richard Morrison of Morehead, one step-son, Stephen Mark Smith of Surprise, Arizona, one daughter, Ronnie Morrison of Morehead, one granddaughter, Shana Barnette and her husband, Steve of Morehead, four great-grandchildren, Whitley Nicole, Jacob Gage, Harley Jo and Kaden Shane, sister-in-law, Gloria Cooper, several nieces and nephews including, Linda, Ray and Jimmy Lee Quesinberry all of Belton, Texas and Morgan Cooper, special cousins, Linda Cooper, John II, Latoya, James, Mary and special friends, W. Scott North, Ralph Davis, Jr., Henry Davis, Cobern Fannin, Gerald and Jewell Lacy and Dr. Don Blair.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 4, 2008 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Fannin officiating. Burial will follow in the Morrison Family Cemetery on Island Fork Road. Full military rites will be conducted at the graveside by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Jacqueline Sorrell
DAYTON, OHIO - Sorrell, Jacqueline V. (Salyer), age 78, of Miamisburg,Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2008.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years: Herbert O. Sorrell; children: Brenda and husband Timothy Gregory of Louisville, KY, Angela and husband Gene Turner of Miamisburg, Gregory Sorrell of Miamisburg, and Lisa Sorrell of Miamisburg; grandchildren: Aaron Strugill, Britton Andrews and Travis Bryant of Kentucky, Nate Davis and wife Amanda of Miamisburg, Elizabeth Turner of Davenport, FL, Justin Sorrell of Miamisburg, Cody Sorrell and wife Nicole of Germantown, and Tyler Sorrell of Miamisburg. Also survived by 3 great grandchildren: Cecily LeMonde, Brooklyn Sorrell, Ciara Sorrell; niece: Vikki Woodward and husband Butch Keller of Prestonsburg, KY; extended family members: Christina Turner and her family of Miamisburg.
She was preceded in death by her sister: Ruth Dameron; daughter: Conchita Bryant, and granddaughter: Stacy Lynn Sorrell.

Jackie Lee “Jack” Tackett 1943-2008
MOREHEAD – Jackie Lee “Jack” Tackett, 64, passed away Friday, February 29, 2008 in the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky.
He was born on September 25, 1943 in Menifee County, Kentucky, a son of the late Charles Edison Tackett and Viola Johnson Tackett.
Mr. Tackett was a former timber cutter and he enjoyed woodworking.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Lewis Tackett and George Tackett and two sisters, Lula Myrtle Bailey and Wanda Warren Gollihue.
Survivors include one son, Eddie Tackett of Florida, three brothers, Glenn Tackett and Marvin Ratliff both of Morehead and Herschel (“Butch”) Tackett of Mt. Sterling, one sister, Elizabeth Milkau of Northlake, Illinois and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 A.M. Monday, March 3, 2008 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Rhodes officiating. Burial was in the Jones Cemetery at Midland.
Pallbearers were family and friends.

William Allen Thompson 1930-2008
MOREHEAD - William Allen Thompson, 77, Morehead, was called home to meet the Lord on March 2, 2008, at the St. Claire Regional Medical Center after an extended illness. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother in Christ to family members who adored him.
He was born in Carter County, Kentucky, on May 29, 1930, to the late John C. and Bertha Brown Thompson. His home was a hillside farm on Greasy Creek in which he learned responsibility and hard work at a very young age.
Also preceding him in death were three brothers, James Thompson, Melvin Thompson, and Irvin Waltz; six sisters, Amanda Lou Ingram, Rosie Fultz, Sophie King, Charity Fultz, Blanche Grimsley and Hildreth Waltz.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years Aileen Deloris Richards Thompson, whom he married on December 30, 1950; one daughter, Suzanne Ross (Randy) of Morehead; three sons, Greg Thompson (Barb) of Morehead, Daryl Thompson of West Liberty, and Randy Thompson (Cindy) of Hillsboro.
Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Gavin Thompson, Dustin Barker, Tyler Thompson, Heather Barker, Darya Thompson, Kaitlyn Ross, John Thompson, and Chance Thompson, and one great granddaughter, Josie Carolyne Bond.
He was a member of the Morehead First Church of the Nazarene. He also attended the Shiloh Methodist Church and Goddard Methodist Church in Fleming County. He dearly loved his church family and loved serving God.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954 reaching the rank of Corporal. As a cook, he gained culinary skills that he utilized many times over with his specialty dishes that he served his family.
“Al” owned and operated Thompson Glass Company for 25 years. He had learned his trade as a professional glazier when he left home as a teenager to work in Columbus, Ohio, with his brother Melvin. This had become necessary so he could help support his family when his father fell ill and was unable to work.
Before opening Thompson Glass, Al worked as a contract manager for Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company and for Ohio Plate Glass. Over the years, all three sons, a son-in-law, and several nephews worked alongside of him in the family business. He took pride in his work but especially took pride in setting the example of how an honest businessman conducts his work and life.
Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Monday, March 3, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in the Brown Cemetery with full military rites conducted at the gravesite by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.
Officiating will be Rev. Richard Allen (Dick) Parker, Rev. Richard Allen Short, and Rev. Brian Farmer. Pallbearers are Dustin Barker, John Thompson, Randy Ross, Jeff Barker, Ivan Grimshaw, and Jack Templeman. Honorary pallbearers are Gavin Thompson, Ralph Ingram, Wayne Flynn, William Miller, Wilbur Hardin, John D. Barker, Paul Hedge, and Tom Jackson.

Henry Cleveland Wallace 1934-2008
MOREHEAD - Henry Cleveland Wallace, age 73, of Upper Lick Fork, Clearfield, Kentucky, passed away Friday, February 29, 2008, at the Life Care Center in Morehead. He was born May 8, 1934, in Rowan County, Kentucky, and was the son of the late Corbett and Elizabeth Perkins Wallace. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Ernest, Vencil, Joseph, and Vernon Wallace.
His wife, Bertha Jones Wallace, passed away July 29, 2007.
He is survived by two sons, James Wallace and Donna and Anthony Wallace and Sherry, of Clearfield, Kentucky; four granddaughters, Crystal Derrickson, Amie Adkins, Kayla Wallace, and Kindra Wallace; two great-grandchildren, Aubrey Lynn Derrickson and Cainan James Kegley; one brother, John Wallace of Morehead, Kentucky; and one sister, Pearl Ison and James of Morehead, Kentucky; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Wallace worked at Lee Clay Products Company for 15 years and was a lifelong farmer. In addition to farming, he especially enjoyed hunting and working with animals. He was a devoted family man and was a member of Slab Camp Christian Church.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Herbie Lewis, Rev. Carlos Bowman, and Rev. Charles Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Jones Cemetery on Jones Ridge.
Pallbearers will be Clarence Jones, Glenn Jones, Clineon Mullins, Scotty Wallace, Doug Wallace, Virgil Brown, Danny Mullins, Terry Wallace, and Randall Rogers.
Visitation is after 6 p.m. Monday, March 3, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
