The candidate’s forum for the 2018 Primary Election has been set.
The forum will be held on Tuesday, April 24, at 7 p.m. at the Morehead Conference Center, and feature only the contested races in the primary election.
“This is an opportunity for candidates to have a platform that they may not normally have,” said Tony Pence, director of Downtown Morehead, Inc. “This isn’t a debate, but a forum where candidates will be asked some very pertinent questions about our community.”
The four contested races in the primary election include: Democratic candidates for Rowan County Judge-Executive, Democrats for Rowan County Clerk, Democrats for Rowan Circuit Court Clerk, and the Democrats for Magistrate of District 4.
The forum will be moderated by Morehead State Public Radio’s (MSPR) Chuck Mraz.
Questions for the candidates will be provided by representatives of The Morehead News, The Trailblazer and MSPR.
Candidates need to contact Pence by April 1 to ensure their participation. He can be reached at (606) 548-1073 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
A pre-forum meeting will be held a week before on Tuesday, April 17, at 7 p.m. at the conference center to review the forum layout and rules of participation.
The forum will have each candidate presenting a 90-second opening statement, determined by drawing at the pre-forum meeting.
Questions for the forum can be submitted to Pence at Downtown Morehead, Inc., MSPR, or the newspaper.
To submit questions for the candidates to The Morehead News, email them to email@example.com or call 784-4116.
The General Election forum is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 23, at the Morehead Conference Center.
