Andrews salary at $251,160

Morehead State University’s Board of Regents has granted President Wayne D. Andrews a 4 percent pay raise and extended his contract by one year.

Beginning July 1, Dr. Andrews will receive an annual salary of $251,160, which includes a 5 percent deferred compensation plan on a base of $239,200. His contract now runs through

June 30, 2011. He came to the MSU presidency in January 2005.

The Board announced it would establish criteria and incentive goals for determining future presidential compensation packages.

At its quarterly meeting, the Regents also approved a $118.9 million operating budget for the 2007-08 fiscal year. This represents an 8.38 percent increase from last year’s opening budget.

The new budget is based on a projected fall enrollment of 9,175.

The Regents approved an 8.3 percent increase in tuition, effective with the fall semester. Student tuition and mandatory fees for full-time, in-state undergraduate students will be $2,640 per semester, an increase of $220. For resident graduate students, the cost will be $2,865, an increase of $320.

Students living in residence halls will see an increase of $107 in housing costs per semester.

The Board also approved a 4 percent general salary pool increase for faculty and staff, with personnel accounting for 61 percent of MSU’s operating budget.

In other matters, the Regents approved a Bachelor of Imaging Sciences—Leadership in Medical Imaging degree. The first online baccalaureate degree in imaging sciences in Kentucky will be available to registered practitioners in radiography, nuclear medicine, sonography and radiation therapy.

The Regents also adopted a resolution commending Dr. Michael R. Moore, provost and executive vice president for academic affairs, for 10 years of service and Barbara Ender, vice president for development, for six years at MSU. Dr. Moore is returning to teaching and Ender is going to Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania in a similar position.
