'Alice in Wonderland'

March 09, 2007 11:36 am

An adaptation of Lewis Carroll’s “Alice's Adventures in Wonderland” will be performed at Morehead State University.
“Alice in Wonderland,” created by the Manhattan Project, will be a Second Stage theatre production Tuesday through Thursday, March 13-15. The play will begin at 7:30 p.m. each evening in the Lucille Little Theatre within Breckinridge Hall.
In this version of the classic Wonderland tale, elements of the story are used to reveal the dark elements of the human psyche. The drama has been described by critic T.E. Kalem as “one of the extremely rare instances of a book’s being turned into a wholly satisfactory theatrical experience.”
The play is considered appropriate for mature audiences.
Lisa Bryant, a Vancleve sophomore, has been cast in the role of Alice. The daughter of William Bryant, she is a psychology major, a resident adviser and a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority.
Cristy Smith, Grayson graduate student in communications, is directing the play and the set designer. She is a member of Theta Alpha Phi theatre honorary and coordinator for MSU Players. She is the daughter of Ronnie and Donna Smith.
The production’s stage manager is Tanna Hay, a senior theatre major from Isonville. A member of Theta Alpha Phi, she is the daughter of Mike and Kathy Hay.
Admission to the play is $5 for all persons. All proceeds from Second Stage productions benefit student scholarship funds.
Additional information about the performance and details about reservations are available by calling the Theatre Box Office at (606) 783-2170.
