Eagle baseball players earn OVC postseason honors

MOREHEAD, Ky. – Three Morehead State Eagle baseball players received  Ohio Valley Conference post-season honors when the league released its All-OVC and All-Freshman teams Tuesday (May 20) evening. Michael Bottoms was named second-team All-OVC, and Casey Branham and Michael Fear were named to the All-Freshman team.

Bottoms, a sophomore from Harrodsburg, Ky., was selected as a utility player after pitching in 16 games and either serving as DH or playing first base in 48 games. He hit .323 with five home runs and 34 runs batted in. His pitching record was 3-4 with a 5.68 ERA.

Branham, a freshman from Catlettsburg, Ky., was MSU’s back-up catcher in 2008. He played in 25 games and hit .280 with four doubles and one home run.  In 15 OVC games, he hit .343, and all five of his extra base hits came against league foes.

Fear, a freshman from Versailles, Ind., was the Eagle starting third baseman for most of the season. He hit .273 with seven doubles, one triple and 18 runs batted in. He hit .275 in OVC contests.
