MSU's Lee scores OVC 'Player' honor
•PLAYER
Drew Lee, SS • So., 5-11, 195 • Mt. Sterling, Ky. • Morehead State
In five games last week, Lee hit .609 (14-for-23) with seven runs, a double, three home runs and an amazing 16 RBI as Morehead State compiled a 3-2 overall record. Lee also had a 1.043 slugging percentage and .625 on-base percentage to go along with five multi-hit games and four multi-RBI outings. Lee had three hits and two RBI in a one-run loss at No. 17 Kentucky and two hits against Georgetown (Ky.) College. In the UT Martin series (in which MSU won two of three) Lee had three hits in the opener to go along with a home run and four RBI and added three hits in game two. In the finale Lee added three hits, two home runs and seven RBI. In that game he hit a grand slam and finished the series with home runs from both sides of the plate. Entering the week Lee had only seven RBI in 32 games this season.

Perconte tossed Murray State’s first complete game shutout of the season on Saturday, as the Thoroughbreds topped Eastern Kentucky 6-0 in game one of a Conference doubleheader. Perconte allowed eight hits overall, but worked himself out of a bases loaded situation in the first inning and after that allowed only two other base runners to get into scoring position. Perconte walked one and struck out seven in completing the ninth game of his Murray State career. It also marked his third career shutout.

Morehead State (15-22, 5-10 OVC): The Eagles have now won seven of its last 10 games after splitting a pair of non-conference games and winning two of three OVC contests from UT Martin last week. Morehead State lost 6-5 at No. 17 Kentucky then topped Georgetown (Ky.) College 5-4. The team picked up its offensive output over the weekend, scoring 41 runs in three games against UTM. The Eagles won game one 16-8 and game three 13-8 while dropping the middle game of the series by a 16-12 margin. Freshman 3B Michael Fear also had a big week, hitting .524 with six runs scored, four doubles and four RBI; he had three hits (including two doubles) against Kentucky. Eric Allen added a .357 average with two doubles, two home runs, five RBI and 11 runs scored; he also walked 10 times in the five games during the week. This week the Eagles will look to continue their hot streak with a non-conference game at Cincinnati and three OVC games at Murray State.
