Morehead State softball wins at Semo

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Whitney Dupuis singled in Alex Ramirez with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Southeast Missouri at 2-1 win over the Morehead State Softball Eagles Sunday (April 20) in Cape Girardeau. SEMO won two out-of-three games in the Ohio Valley Conference series.
Morehead State is now 27-13 overall, 12-7 in the OVC. Southeast Missouri is 23-22 overall, 10-10 in the conference.
MSU's took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fifth inning when Rebecca Butler walked to lead off the frame. Heather Widner came on as a pinch runner at first base, moved to second on a sacrifice by Bianca Cardenas and scored on a two-out single by Kari Quinn.
SEMO tied the score,1-1, in the bottom of the sixth inning when Michelle Summers scored on a single by Megan McDonald.
MSU's Alex Gjevre (14-5), whose 14th win on Saturday had tied a school record, allowed six hits and the two Redhawk runs and suffered the loss. SEMO's Elaine Fisher (18-15) allowed six hits and one run to get the win.
MSU will host IUPUI for a doubleheader at 2 p.m. EDT on Wednesday (April 23).
