May 1, 2012 — The Falcons from Lakeside Christian won seven inning games against the Winchester Warriors and the Blue Grass Eagles at Lykins Park in Winchester on Friday night.
LCA pitcher Brett McKinney picked up his sixth win of the season with a complete game.
McKinney's curve ball made life difficult for the Warriors as he struck out 12 batters, giving up only three hits and three walks.
Barton led the offense, going three for three with a single, double and triple.
Brian Holeman, Brett McKinney, Bryce McKinney, Nick Bradley and Austin Kier all contributed singles while Dalton Collett ripped a double.
Bryce McKinney and Collett both had two RBI, while Barton gained another RBI in the 6-2 win over Winchester.
In the nightcap, the Falcons faced the Eagles from Blue Grass Baptist School in Lexington for the first time this season.
Collett went the distance in the 8-2 win for the Falcons on the way to his fourth win for the season. The Falcon ace struck out 16 batters while giving up only 1 walk and 1 hit.
Blue Grass' Matt Marcum kept the match close through three innings with the Falcons up 2-1.
Lakeside blew it open in the fourth inning with six runs, while it kept the Eagles offense stagnant with one run for the remainder of the game. Clay Barton was perfect at the plate again in the game going 2 for 2 and 1 walk. Barton hit a triple and scored in the first inning to draw first blood, followed with a double and round trip back to home in the third inning to take back the lead for LCA.
Brett McKinney was also perfect at the plate going two for two with a walk.
McKinney hit a single driving in a run in the third, capped off with a bases-loaded triple in the fourth inning to round up four RBIs.
First baseman Seth Hall went two for four in the matchup, while Brian Holeman, Caleb Maze, Maverick Highley and Zach Hacker hit singles to boost the 10 total hits for the Falcons.
After Friday’s double dose of wins, the Falcons went on to pick up two more wins in a double header against North Hardin.
At 18-0-1, the Falcons get back to action tomorrow night when they take the big stage against St. Joe Catholic at Whitaker Bank Park in Lexington.
