MSU and WKYT-TV’s ‘Storm the Court’ a success

April 24, 2012 —             Everybody was a winner last Sunday afternoon when Morehead State University and WKYT-TV joined forces to help people in Eastern Kentucky affected by this spring’s tornado outbreak.

Those in attendance were treated to the soothing sounds of American Idol™ semi-finalist Shannon Magrane, who provided a special guest performance for the fundraiser.

MSU alumni, basketball alumni, WKYT-TV personalities, and special guest coaches stormed the court to raise money for the Eastern Kentucky region.

Recognizable MSU graduates ranging from WKYT personalities Amber Philpott and Chris Bailey, to local politicians Sen. Walter Blevins and Rep. Rocky Adkins laced up their sneakers with some of Morehead’s best.

MSU Men’s Head Coach Donnie Tyndall also traded in his coach’s attire for a pair of shorts and a tee shirt, as he was pitted against MSU President Wayne Andrews who coached the yellow team on the opposing sideline.

The “Storm the Court” event raised a total of $8,500 to go towards tornado relief efforts in the Eastern Kentucky area.
