Regional tennis serves up tourney action next week

Both the Rowan County Senior High School girls’ and boys’ tennis teams finished secnd at the annual Eastern Kentucky Conference tennis tournaments this week. The 9-team event was played on the Sadler Courts on the campus of Morehead State University.
The field of nine teams including East Carter, West Carter, Lewis, Bath, Nicholas, Raceland, and Morgan. Russell took both the girls and boys team titles.
The Lady Vikings finished the regular season with wins over Greenup County 8-1 and East Carter 3-1 which was played in a regional format.
The Rowan County boys also played a regional format match with East Carter in which they ended in a 2-2 tie. 
The regional tournament will begin on Monday, May 12, at the Ashland Tennis Center where area teams will enter 2 singles and 2 doubles in a quest for the Regional title. Four singles and four doubles teams will advance to the state tournament held at the UK courts in Lexington on May 22-24.
