Domination is an apt description of the Vikings’ Track Team performance in last Saturday’s Eastern Kentucky Conference Championship at Rowan County Senior High School’s Track.
The Vikings scored 217 points which more than doubled the 108 point total of the runner-up team, East Carter. Rowan County Tracksters won three of the four relay races and would have had the fourth if not for an interference disqualification.
Two Viking athletes scored in 10 of the 12 individual events contested.
“We felt very confident coming into the meet and that confidence carried us to an excellent team performance,” commented Coach Roy Wright.
The Vikings’ team points leaders continued in that role as they have all season. Jon Sergent and Eddie Young tied for team points leader for the meet with contributions of 36 points each. Fifteen Vikings contributed to the team’s point total.
“A couple of our guys who usually don’t receive much attention had really good performances today”, stated Coach Wright.
