Vikings open 2013-14 with victory
The high school basketball season across Kentucky tipped off Monday night as the 16th Region runner-up Rowan County hosted West Carter in Morehead.
Kittens defeat Lady Vikings 64-48
Alex Young and Shelby Gransbery missed their time away from the Ashland Kittens basketball program. Both players sparkled in their returns Tuesday night as Ashland opened the season with a 64-48 victory over Rowan County in Anderson Gym.
Ledford shines at 16th Region Volleyball Player of the Year
If you were to look up the words “determination” and “grit” in the dictionary, you just might find a picture of McKayla Ledford. The Rowan County Senior High School senior and daughter of Darrell and Rhonda Ledford has been setting records and making a name for herself as a five-year member of the RCSHS Volleyball Team.

It is every college student-athlete’s dream to have the opportunity to play for a national championship. The Morehead State Volleyball Eagles are one of 64 teams that will begin the NCAA Tournament this Friday night when they face 13 seed 18th ranked Illinois in Champaign, Ill.
Eagles shoot 72 percent in win over Chattanooga
The Morehead State men's basketball team posted its highest field-goal percentage in 11 years en route to an 88-75 victory over Chattanooga this past Thursday afternoon at Orleans Arena.
Bates Crazy 8 12-2
The march to Rupp Arena is under way. Teams took to the hardwood Monday night to begin the 2013-14 season. With that in mind, I have put together the inaugural Bates Crazy 8.
