Police make early morning arrests

Morehead Police worked some wee hours of the morning Tuesday and Wednesday when a man was arrested for DUI after flipping his pickup into a creek and another man was hauled off to jail on drugs charges after being seen lurking behind Holbrook Drug.

Timothy Williams, 50, was taken into custody about 2:29 a.m. Tuesday after he lost control of his truck and landed into the creek off Oxley Branch, said Chief Mike Adams.

Officer Phil Blackburn and Sgt. Mark Cline arrived on the scene and found Williams to be allegedly under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Williams was charged with DUI and taken to the Rowan County Detention Center, but was released after posting a $750 full-cash bond.

Meanwhile, at 2:26 a.m. Wednesday, Sgt. Cline observed 22-year-old Jarvis Dehart wondering around Holbrook Drugs building and discovered he was wanted in another county.

“He stopped to check him and discovered he had an active warrant out of Morgan County,” Adams said Thursday. “Into further investigation, he also was found to allegedly be in possession of some drugs.”

Williams was charged with third-degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and a prescription drug not in a proper container.

Williams also was taken to the Rowan County Detention Center, but released after posting a $500 unsecured bond.
