Arrests net 300 Oxycodone pills

By Leeann Tanner - Staff Writer

A routine traffic stop in Pineville Sunday led to the arrests of three Olive Hill residents. Two were wanted for crimes in Rowan County.

Officer Barry Mays of the Pineville Police Department pulled over John Hall, 27; Bonnie Barber, 23; and Jack Hall, 28; for speeding and found that the two passengers, Barber, and Jack Hall, had been entered as wanted into a national crime data base called NCIC by Kentucky State Police in Morehead.

Officer Mays arrested and charged John W. Hall with speeding and operating a motor vehicle under the influence 1st offense. Hall has another pending DUI charge in Carter County.

Barber was arrested and served by Officer Travis Couch with a warrant from Rowan District Court obtained by KSP for receiving stolen property in Morehead. Barber will be arraigned in Rowan County on June 30.

Jack Hall was arrested and charged with 2 counts possession of a controlled substance 1st degree, possession of a controlled substance 3rd degree, controlled substance not in original container, and public intoxication of a controlled substance. Jack M. Hall was also served with a warrant from Rowan District Court obtained by KSP for receiving stolen property in Morehead as well as a bench warrant from Carter District Court for non-payment of fines. Hall will also be arraigned in Rowan County on June 30.

“All three were arrested before we searched the car and I noticed the back seat was loose, so I took it apart and found all the drugs there,” Mays said. “The labels on prescription bottles had Florida labels on them, but it was easy to see that they were forged labels that had been made on a home computer.”

Nearly 300 Oxycodone tablets and over 40 generic Xanax tablets were confiscated by police. Officer Ray Lawson of Fish and Wildlife and Deputy Carl Frith of the Bell County Sheriff Department assisted Officer Mays on the scene and with the arrest.

“We wanted to charge all three of them with possession of a controlled substance,” Mays said. “Jack Hall though said that the drugs were his, and took responsibility for all of them.”

Barber and John Hall have already posted bond and Jack Hall is still being held in the Bell County Detention Center.
