Morehead Police want to question a Morehead man about his alleged involvement in the robbery of a local motel yesterday morning.
A warrant has been issued for David W. “Smurf” Murphy for second-degree robbery in connection with a robbery at the Knights Inn, 1698 Flemingsburg Road.
On May 15 at approximately 10:38 a.m., Morehead police received a E-911 call from a clerk at the motel that they had just been robbed. Units arriving on the scene were advised that the suspect, a white male, had fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to a press release issued by the MPD,
During the course of the investigation, enough evidence was obtained to develop probable cause and a warrant was issued for Murphy’s arrest, said Detective David Sexton.
Anyone with information about Murphy’s whereabouts is asked to contact the MPD at 784-7511 or any law enforcement agency.
Police would not elaborate on how they came to suspect Murphy for the crime.
