Robert Lee Drown was in Carter County Circuit Court early Monday morning for a status hearing in the triple-murder, 1st-degree rape, arson and burglary case against him.
Circuit Judge Rebecca Phillips determined Drown’s trial should be moved to another location and announced it would be held in Johnson County.
She said she believed Johnson County was removed enough that the general population would not have specific knowledge of the case and an impartial jury would be easier to find there than in Carter County.
Drown is charged with the May 2007 deaths of Jennifer Ison and her two daughters, Shannah, 10, and Marisa, 3. The bodies were found in the burned mobile home the Ison family was living in on Canoe Run, off Damron Branch, in eastern Carter County.
