A 21-year-old Pleasant Valley man remains in jail after he allegedly broke into the home of a person he knew and rummaged through the house.
Gary Thomas was arrested March 13 following a call to police from a resident along Rawcel Street, who said a man had entered her home through the front door, said Morehead Police Capt. Mike Adams.
“About 3:13 p.m. we got the call of a burglary,” Adams commented. “The victim was at home and apparently she knew the alleged perpetrator. She said he knocked on the door to see if anyone was at home and first pried at the rear door and then the front. He entered the home and began going through her stuff. That’s when she confronted him.”
Thomas left the scene and was discovered in town about 8:04 p.m. by MPD Officer Ben Castle. Following an interview, Castle was able to charge Thomas with second-degree burglary. He was taken to the Rowan County Detention Center where he remains on a $20,000 bond out of district court and no bond out of circuit court. According to the jail’s booking department, Thomas was on probation.
