Search efforts appreciated by lost campers

The editor:
Two weeks ago my friend and I were camping in the Clear Creek Campground in Salt Lick with our families. We are both fifteen years old. We made the mistake of going hiking without telling our parents. Unfortunately, we got lost in the woods after dark.
Our parents contacted the campground director, who notified Bath County Rescue Squad and Salt Lick Volunteer Fire Department. Both families were extremely impressed with their response and dedication to the situation. These caring volunteers took the time out of their weekend to do a good deed, and deserve to be recognized. The world would be a much better place if there were more people like this.
My family and I would like to thank and apologize to all the people who took the time to help find my friend and I. I hope I am never lost in the woods again, but if I am I want people with the same qualities as the volunteers who found me on the weekend of October 20 to be looking. My family and I want to thank all of these people who took part in the search for my friend and I.
