Use caution with firearms

The editor:

We reside at 1570 E. Clack Mountain, Wiccan Way, Clearfield. We’re writing this letter to let someone know, most likely a hunter, that he/she shot our dog. On Monday, Oct. 29 somewhere between 3:30 and 7 p.m. our collie B-Jay was shot. The hunter can wipe that smug smile off their face and stop thinking that B-Jay should not have been in the woods. He wasn’t! He was in our driveway! The bullet hit him in the back and right now he is paralyzed in his back legs. We don’t know at this point if he will ever be able to walk the way he once did. If you think we’re angry, you are correct. But we’re also hurt and extremely sad that an innocent being has to suffer in this way.

B-Jay was on our property and the bullet came from who knows where to hit him. How could they be so careless? If they are going to hunt then hunters should have enough common sense to know where and how to shoot. That bullet could have hit anyone who was in the driveway at that time. I guess one could say they were lucky since they didn’t hit a person but to us they still shot a member of our family and nothing they can do will ever change that. Their actions are something we have to live with – not them! So the next time they decide to pick up a gun and go stalking through the woods shooting at anything that moves they should try to remember that a bullet can travel further than their small brain can think. The next time it just might be some of their family or friends they shoot.
