Marking sex offenders essential for security

The editor:
Since reading a column (“Sex Offenders”) by Tonia Noe-Rose, I have a few opinions of my own.
I come from a state that issues colored license plates to individuals who have numerous DUI convictions and I agree the same should be done with those convicted of sex offenses nationwide. Like Amber alerts, officials who patrol our roads would recognize a colored plate and be aware of that crime in case a child was seen in a vehicle with the colored plate. And maybe children and young adults would have the heads-up and be able to steer clear of these vehicles.
But what’s to be done with those people who are relatives of the victims? Or teachers, church leaders and even some parents?
One concern I had living in Ohio was that a lot of our voting stations were schools and nursing homes. Are those convicted of sex crimes allowed to exercise their right to vote and enter these public buildings to do so?
In this day and age it takes both parents working to make ends meet. So I agree, more needs to be done to ensure the safety and future of the young people.
