The editor:
I would like to take this opportunity to give a public THANK YOU to our elected officials, and community leaders who heard our public outcry for a reconsideration on keeping our Ombudsman Program, which represents our dear ones in the Nursing Homes, with Legal Aid for the Bluegrass.
When the news came that the Ombudsman Program was being cut from the budget,
I and many other concerned citizens, said that we must make a plea, and make our leaders aware of the very real importance, of the program, and how it would affect our community as a whole.
We wrote letters, we telephoned, and the final act of attending the meeting, let our leaders know that it was a crying out to reconsider, and yes our leaders saw and heard us. They reconsidered and allowed the Ombudsman
Program to stay another year with Legal Aid, and given this time, something or someone, can work on having it extended in the future.
Again, I say thank you to our leaders, and this act of compassion for ones less fortunate, will not be forgotten.
Grateful citizen,
Erna Gay Wells
