I know it seems like it was just yesterday… as time just flies by, but we are gearing up for a great 2008.
The Relay for Life is a family oriented event where participants raise money and awareness for cancer research. The money we raise is used for many programs including research for new medicines, treatments, prevention and services for patients. The HOPE Lodge in Lexington is a great example of where our dollars are spent. Patients and their family can stay free of charge when they are in Lexington getting treatments. So this is a very worthy cause to get involved with.
We would like to have teams from churches, businesses, community groups and family teams. Teams raising money and awareness “In Honor” of a family member fighting cancer or “In Remembrance” of a family member who lost the battle.
Besides raising money and awareness, we celebrate life by having a good time with live entertainment and games and activities for all age groups. We remember those we have lost with the very moving Luminaria Ceremony, and this year we have a new ceremony to add to our event. The “Fight Back” ceremony. So call me and sign up your team and come find out about The American Cancer Society Relay for Life and have a good time doing it.
